Why do so many people seem to prefer them?

For one, you can take your dolls head off yourself and "easily" put it back on. This helps with cleaning the dolls bodies.

Second, it's "the old way" and just to many things are changing.

Me, I don't have a preference, and with all the low cut backs, strings show, and I think it looks bad, but I'm not sure I like the idea of a plastic tie.

Thanks. Some people seem pretty passionate about them! My daughter and I have always wondered what the purpose of them is (she finds them a little annoying). We thought maybe they were so you could tie/anchor them to something.
